Finca Castillo has been with my family for over 80 years. It is a coffee micro-lot located in the state of Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua within the Dipilto municipality.
In 2021, I decided to renovate the main house originally built by my great-grandparents. My goal was to preserve the original adobe walls and increase the square footage to comfortably accommodate more guests. The construction activities finished summer 2022. The purpose of the coffee farmhouse is to be bring family & friends together to make lifetime memories.
As an added benefit, the coffee farmhouse also serves as a short-term rental for international coffee investors/buyers looking for a perfect place to stay while on business or for tourists wanting to experience a stay on a coffee farm.
In 2023, Finca Castillo went through a transformation with planting over 3,000 new pacamara coffee trees and improving the yield outlook on existing catimor coffee trees.
In order to support and promote my coffee region, I also network with local farmers to source specialty grade coffee. Each sample goes through a cupping(tasting) exercise in order to select flavor profiles that enhance the customer’s coffee experience.

Fun Fact: From 2022 – 2024, the Nicaraguan Cup of Excellence competition’s 1st place winners all came from the Dipilto’s region. This competition allows farmers across the various states in the country to submit a coffee sample from their lot(s) for competitive tasting. The harvest of these coffee lots would become part of an international auction which then drives the sale price of those coffees up (Benefiting the farmer). In 2024, the top prize earned 100X on the sale price of a unit of coffee! Finca Castillo is proud to know that local farmers in the region are getting the international recognition for their premium coffee and as a result, it also brings recognition to the region.
